The labrador is Auckland's favourite type of dog, and it's not even close, according to the city's latest animal management report.
Figures quoted by Stuff show 13,000 labradors found a home in Auckland, with border collies coming in second on 5000.

There were also 5000 staffordshire bull terriers and 4000 jack russells.
At the other end of the spectrum, the American pit bull terrier was named the most menacing and dangerous dog in the city.
Six of the 29 dogs deemed dangerous breeds were American pit bull terriers.
The American staffordshire terrier and the staffordshire bull terrier were also deemed as dangerous .
All up, 4268 dogs in the Auckland region were classified as menacing or dangerous.
