The winning design from an architecture competition to find a new high-rise building for Auckland's CBD will see a 180 metre structure erected on Federal St.
Designed by Melbourne architects Woods Bagot, the building will stand just a block away from the Sky Tower, and 57 metres shorter.

The 48-floor building will feature permanent and short-term living arrangements, with 226 apartments to be complimented by a 233 room five-star hotel.
Its bottom floor will feature a marketplace of local eateries and bars, with the top floor to boast a 'Zen Garden' featuring 360 degree views of Auckland.
"It is a strong, city-defining tower with an elegant silhouette that is enduring for the skyline of Auckland and provides a companion to the city's iconic Sky Tower," said Peter Miglis, Woods Bagot principle and design leader.
The design won from a competition of 10 offerings from around the world, including one from New Zealand architects Warren and Mahoney.
Mr Miglis said Federal St's transformation into a pedestrian area was a key focus of the design process, and they hoped the building, with its market-like bottom floor, would be able to become a public destination.
ICD Property, an Australian property firm, have committed $200 million to the project which they hope will be completed by 2022.
