Hundreds of Christchurch primary school teachers have abandoned the classroom as the week of nationwide strikes continue.
The third in the series of rolling strikes has seen teachers meet at Horncastle Arena on Wednesday where they plan to march into the suburb of Riccarton then to Hagley Park.
Smaller rallies are planned across the city, including outside the Ministry of Education building.

The week-long strike is the second time in three months that teachers have walked off the job.
The New Zealand Educational Institute confirmed last week that strikes would go ahead after talks with the government failed to resolve pay and class size issues.
The latest pay offer would have given teachers an approximate $10,000 pay rise, bringing the average salary up to about the $85,000 mark.
Teachers across the rest of the South Island will strike on Thursday before Wellington teachers strike on Friday, wrapping up the week of one-day rolling strikes across the country.
