Senior Head Hunters gang member arrested in major meth raid

Eleven people have been arrested in Auckland after a major investigation into the manufacture and supply of methamphetamine.

One of those detained was a senior Head Hunters gang member, police say.

Police conducted search warrants at 18 properties across the city earlier on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of 10 men and one woman.

Also seized were eight firearms, a clan lab and other equipment used to make the Class A drug.

One of those arrested, a 50-year-old male, is a senior Head Hunters west chapter gang member who has been charged with supplying methamphetamine, offering to supply methamphetamine, conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for supply, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Those arrested will appear in the Auckland and Waitemata District Courts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Greg Cramer says the arrests demonstrate police commitment to preventing the social harm caused by methamphetamine.

"Our investigations are continuing and our message to those involved in the manufacture or distribution of methamphetamine is that you will be held to account," he says.

"We want to hear from anyone who has information on illegal drug activity."
