A construction worker is in hospital after becoming trapped in a pit at a South Auckland site.
Fire crews were called to Settlement Road in Papakura at around 1pm on Saturday afternoon.
The man was digging a three metre deep pit when he fell in. NZME reports he was then buried by soil and Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews needed to dig him out.
He suffered critical injuries.
