Police have confirmed inquiries are underway after a British tourist in Auckland was reported as missing on Wednesday.
According to a Facebook post by Michael Millane, his 22-year-old sister Grace Millane has been missing for five days after not returning to her Auckland hostel.

The post said family members hadn't been contacted by Ms Millane since Saturday and were desperate for information about her whereabouts.
A missing persons report was filed on Wednesday morning, according to a police spokesperson, and initial inquiries were underway.
Mr Millane told Newshub he understood police were reviewing CCTV footage and taking statements.
British High Commission Wellington consular manager Tony McLeod told NZME the commission was aware of reports of Ms Millane's disappearance and were working with the family.
The Facebook post has received more than 100 comments, with users from across New Zealand saying they would share the information on their pages to try and raise awareness.
