An amazing 10 Year Challenge photo has been shared showing the astonishing changes to an area in Christchurch.
The #10YearChallenge has taken social media by storm, with users posting a picture of themselves from 10 years ago against a picture of themselves from recent times. The aim is to show off how much they have changed in that time period.
Some people have chosen to post more serious photos disrupting the fun photo challenge, by showing the degradation of natural landscapes.
Christchurch was devastated by the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. Many eastern suburbs suffered from unrepairable damage to their homes and severe liquefaction.
The photo shared on Reddit shows an area in the residential 'red zone' - the worst affected area in Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake.
In the 'before' photo, you can see a number of houses around the Sullivan Park area in Avonside. Around 1300 people used to live in this area before the earthquake.
The after photo is a stark contrast. The land that used to be side by side full of houses is now a vast grassland.
However, social media users think the area looks beautiful with some saying the large grassy area would make for a great reserve and saying it is a fantastic area to walk the dog.
