Police investigating the October death of a US woman in a spa pool at an address in Christchurch have laid drug charges against a local man.
Lauren Mikaila Biddle, 22, died at a house on Spinnaker Ln just before 1am on October 22. She was found unresponsive in a spa pool, after enjoying a night with friends.
Police initially said they were treating the death as unexplained, but on Friday said a 37-year-old man had been arrested.
He faces two charges of supplying a Class B controlled drug, impeding rescue, perverting the course of justice and cultivating cannabis.
The man will appear in Christchurch District Court on Friday afternoon.
Ms Biddle, an American citizen, was working in New Zealand and was well known in polo fraternities in both countries.
"She did more in her 22 years with us then others do in a full life," her father Tommy Biddle said in October. "She was my angel, my light, my girl. I have a huge hole in my heart."
