An 18-year-old man has appeared in Christchurch District Court on Monday morning after he was arrested on Friday.
He faces charges under the Films, Videos and Publications Classifications Act 1993.
The teenage student is facing two charges. One alleges he distributed a live stream of the murder of multiple victims at the Deans avenue mosque.
A second charge alleges that between the 8th and the 15th of March, he showed a photograph of the Deans Avenue mosque with the message “target acquired” and further chat messaging around inciting extreme violence constituting one of the offences.
The teenage student stood calmly in the dock throughout the bail hearing.
Judge Stephen o’Driscoll had ordered the public to be cleared from the public gallery.
He has been granted name suppression, and is due to reappear in court on the 8th April.
