A police spokesperson has confirmed the suspicious package was not a bomb, but rather stereo equipment.
Police were called to the scene in a commercial area of Nelson's CBD on Thursday afternoon, following reports of a suspicious package.
The block between Rutherford St, Bridge Street and Montgomery Street was evacuated.
Cordons have been removed.
