He may be New Zealand's first man, but Clarke Gayford has proven he knows how to stick to his roots.
In a post on Twitter, Gayford's mate Simon Day says he was taught how to skin a fish "Gisborne style" by Gayford.
"It involves your teeth," the post reads.
The accompanying video shows Gayford slicing into a kingfish, then grabbing the skin of the fish in between his teeth. He holds the head down with one hand, and the tail with the other, and rips the skin down the fillet all the way to the tail.
Gayford, host of fishing show Fish of the Day, reposted the video to his own Twitter account explaining: "My Gissy mate Ross Gurau showed me this technique, one of the few fish you can do this with."
