A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after he was shot.
Police were called to the Harley-Davidson dealership on Mt Wellington Highwsay at 1.50pm on Friday and remain at the scene.
Cordons are in place around the immediate area.
Initial enquiries suggest the offender has fled the area, although police are following strong leads.
The offender is known to police, and all police responding are armed as a precautionary measure.
A St John spokesperson confirmed with Newshub that three ambulances attended the scene and one person was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.
The wounded man is now undergoing surgery.
Unconfirmed reports suggest he suffered a chest wound.
Traffic delays are to be expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
