A bright new e-scooter fleet is coming to Auckland in June.
Auckland Council and Auckland Transport announced that three e-scooter operators will take part in a second trial of scooters in the city, following a year of services provided by Lime and Wave.

A third provider, Flamingo, has been granted a license to introduce their hot pink scooters to the city.
Along with the new addition, this six-month trial will also see these providers impose voluntary speed limits on riders in certain areas of the city.
Using remote technology, riders will be restricted to a speed of 15kmh in high-volume pedestrian areas such as Takapuna, Ponsonby Road, Karangahape Road, the CBD, Parnell and Newmarket.
This trial period will see an additional 175 scooters added to the Auckland area, bringing the total number of e-scooters in Auckland to 1875.
However, despite the increased competition, prices remain the same for riders with all three providers charging $1 to unlock a scooter and 30 cents per minute of use.
Auckland Council temporarily forced the Lime scooters off the street at the end of February over safety concerns due to reports the scooters' wheels would lock up at high speeds.
They returned in March after firmware upgrades.
