Two people have been killed in a crash near Hastings.
Two cars collided at about 10:20pm on Taihape Rd on Friday, police said. The road has since been reopened.
Further south, two people are in a serious condition following a crash in Christchurch.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Wigram just before midnight.
And Auckland's Southern Motorway is now completely open after a crash at Totara Heights on Friday evening, where police reported horses had fled.
Lanes had been closed, but police have since confirmed the horses were actually stuck in a float involved in the crash. The horses have been uplifted and the road has been cleared.
