Animates has rehomed its 20,000th rescue pet after a kitten waiting for adoption at its Lunn Ave store found a new home.
Charlie arrived at Animates from the SPCA in Whangarei before meeting his new owners. The family had recently lost their cat of 15 years and were looking for a new one as the home felt lonely.
- No dust mites, lots of cat dander in New Zealand classrooms - study
- Toronto apartment found filled with more than 300 cats
- Opinion: This kitten is adorable, but she shouldn't exist
They instantly fell in love with the tiny black kitten named Steve and took him home, later renaming him Charlie.
Animates has been helping find new homes for rescue pets over the last nine years with cats, kittens and special needs cats.
Charlie's new owners say he's fitting in great in his new home and has been providing light relief while their daughter studies for her exams.
One of his favourite things though is to curl up in somebody's lap - whether it is convenient or not.
Animates marketing manager Jacqui Baigent said the company had been incredibly excited waiting for the 20,000th pet to get adopted, and its great to hear he's settling in well to his new home.
Baigent said Animates would like to thank all the people who have adopted all 20,000 rescue pets they have rehomed over the last nine years, as well as the charities that entrust them with animals to rehome.
