Two people have died and another is seriously injured after a collision between a cattle truck and car in mid-Canterbury.
The cattle truck driver was trapped in his cab, after the serious crash north of Methven, at the intersection of Waimarama Rd (SH77) and SH72.
A police statement said the occupants of the car were killed in the crash. The driver of the truck was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries.
Diversions remain in place and the road is blocked, the statement said. The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
