A 63-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in the West Auckland suburb of Massey on Monday morning.
Police were notified of an assault on Westgate Drive around 8:35am. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was apprehended after allegedly fleeing the scene of the murder in a vehicle, says Field Crime Manager and Detective Inspector Colin Parmenter.
The man is due to appear in Waitakere District Court on Tuesday. A post-mortem has also been scheduled.
Police confirmed the victim and alleged offender were known to one another.
Members of the public have been commended by officers for their quick response to the incident.
