Three teenage boys will appear in court on Monday in relation to a 'smash and grab' robbery at a popular Auckland shopping mall.
Two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old will appear in the Auckland Youth Court facing charges including aggravated robbery.
They were arrested on Sunday afternoon after fleeing Westfield shopping centre in St Lukes, where at least two jewellery stores were robbed.
Police say two people, armed with bats and a hammer, stole jewellery before driving from the scene in a stolen vehicle. They abandoned the vehicle near the Baldwin Ave train station before catching the train to Kingsland.
They boarded a western-bound train to Ranui, where the two alleged offenders and a third teenager were tracked and apprehended in a street close by.
One other suspect evaded police and their whereabouts are currently being investigated.
It's believed the thieves targeted the jewellery stores Silvermoon Luxe and Michael Hill.
No one was injured in the robbery, but the sound of breaking glass prompted panic among shoppers and rumours of gunshots.
Video provided to Newshub showed people running toward the mall exit in a mass exodus that caused traffic congestion.
