Tourist gunned down in Raglan named as Sean McKinnon

The Australian tourist gunned down in Raglan early on Friday morning has been named by Australian media.

The Age reports that 33-year-old Victorian man Sean McKinnon was the tourist killed when a gunman attempted to break into his campervan at Te Toto Gorge carpark near Raglan early on Friday.

McKinnon had been asleep with his 32-year-old Canadian fiancee when the gunman tried to get into the campervan.

After McKinnon was shot and his partner escaped, the shooter stole the van and drove to Gordonton Rd, which about 80km away and close to Hamilton.

The van, with McKinnon's body inside, was found nearby at about 8am on Friday.

However, a manhunt remains underway for the offender. The attack has also been described as random by police.

The Age reports that McKinnon was raised around Warrnambool which is Victoria's south-west.

Police and a forensics team have been at the Gordonton Rd crime scene all day. A blue tent has been erected around the van.
