A body has been found on the shore of Makorori, north of Gisborne.
Police said the man's body was discovered about midnight.

A statement said it's believed to be a 33-year-old man, who got into difficulty while snorkelling in the water about 1:45pm on Sunday.
The death will be referred to the coroner.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
