Police are investigating a sudden unexplained death in Upper Hutt.
The man was found unconscious on Main St near a bar following a disorder incident. Officers performed CPR but he died at the scene.
His death is currently being treated as unexplained, and a scene examination is taking place on Thursday morning.
A post-mortem will also be carried out.
Police are speaking with a number of parties. Nobody is being sought in relation to the death, but police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information about it.
