A boating tragedy in Auckland's Manukau Harbour has claimed the life of one person.
Police, Coastguard and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter were notified after a boat overturned just after midday on Saturday.
It's believed the boat was attempting to cross the bar amid large swells.
The three people on board were pulled from the water by a member of the public in a passing boat.
Unfortunately, one person died at the scene.
St John says the other two who were rescued have been taken to Waitakere Hospital in a moderate condition.
