Police have charged a man and woman with the murder of a young woman that took place 24 years ago.
Angela Maree Blackmoore died after being assaulted at her home in Wainoni, eastern Christchurch, on August 17, 1995.
A 45-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman have now been charged with her murder. They appeared in Christchurch District Court on Saturday, were granted interim name suppression and remanded in custody.
"Our thoughts are with Angela's family at they continue to mourn her tragic death," said Det Sgt Todd Hamilton.
"The investigation into her death remains ongoing and detectives are committed to ensuring all those involved are held to account."
Blackmore was reportedly 10 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. Her two-year-old son was asleep in bed when she was stabbed 39 times in the kitchen.
A red car was seen briefly parked outside her house, but gone by the time police arrived. The murder weapon was never found. A bloody bootprint and fingerprint were left at the scene, but their owner was never found either.
Police spoke to hundreds of people at the time, but never found the killer.
The arrests come after police appealed for more information on her death in May, offering a $100,000 reward.
The accused will next appear in court on November 14.
