A person is missing near the ferry terminal in downtown Auckland.
On Monday morning, police confirmed a search was underway for a person who was reported to be in the water near the ferry terminal on the Auckland waterfront.
Police first responded to reports at about 4:35am and are still at the scene searching for the person using an Eagle helicopter.
In an update after 9am, Detective Senior Sergeant John De Heer said police were "very concerned for [the man's] safety" and had not yet identified or located him.
"Initial enquiries report that the man was talking to two men before he was seen in the water. We are asking for those two men and anyone else who has information that may assist Police to contact Auckland City Crime Squad on 09 302 6557."
