A 13-year-old girl has died following her school athletics practice.
Aimee Lindsay collapsed at Northland's Kamo Intermediate School on Monday and could not be revived.
Principal Kim Sloane said in a statement it was with "great sadness" to inform the school community about Aimee's death.
"It is likely this tragedy will have a significant impact on students and staff at our school and further afield."
There was support available to anyone distressed by her death, Sloane said.
Aimee collapsed after athletics practice at the school, school board chairman Paul Cross told Stuff.
She was described as a "keen and valued member of our Kamo Intermediate School whānau".
"At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends," Cross told Stuff.
