One person has died following a single-vehicle crash in north Canterbury, police say.
The car crashed down a bank on Lehmans Rd in the Waimakariri District, before catching fire, a police spokeswoman told Newshub. Another person sustained serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 4:15pm, and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
