Two people have died following an accident at The Remarkables in Queenstown, police say.
The climbers fell from the side of a cliff face at around 11:45am.
A police spokeswoman told Newshub the victims were climbing in an area known as the Grand Traverse.
The spokeswoman said one body has been recovered, and police are working to recover the other.
She said work was also being undertaken to notify the victims' next of kin.
The accident is being investigated by WorkSafe.
