A press conference was held on Thursday afternoon by the Minister of Health and Minister of Police.
David Clark and Stuart Nash updated on the response to the White Island eruption. Clark has just finished visiting Whakatane hospital, where some victims were initially transported following the disaster.
Nash spent time on earlier on Thursday meeting with Ngati Awa representatives and attending a karakia for the victims.
