Multiple people are reportedly injured following a crash in the Canterbury town of Rolleston.
Police are currently responding to what is believed to be a head-on collision, which occurred on State Highway 1 on Monday afternoon.
A police spokesperson told Newshub that diversions will be put in place and "significant traffic is already building" in the area.
An incident report from St John said seven patients were treated after five vehicles attended the incident at 3:31pm. An ambulance remains on the scene.
No information is currently available on the patients' wellbeing.
Police advise motorists to avoid the area and to expect delays.
