A woman is seriously injured after being stabbed in a Wellington park.
The alleged offender is still on the loose.
Armed police were called to Brooklyn's Central Park at 11.40 on Friday morning to reports a woman had been stabbed.
The woman is in a serious condition and Wellington Free Ambulance confirmed she was transported to Wellington Hospital.
Police are investigating the incident and at this stage believe the man was did not know his victim.
Armed police searched the area but failed to locate the male suspect.
Anyone who witnessed the assault or saw anything suspicious in Central Park is asked to contact police on 105.
