There's been another shark sighting on Friday at the North Shore's Orewa Beach.
Police said two sharks were seen by the Eagle helicopter crew about 3:15pm.
One of the sharks was only 200 - 250m from the shoreline, while the other was further out, a police spokeswoman said.
A video posted on social media shows swimmers rushing out of the water as the Eagle helicopter hovers above.
The new shark sighting follows another at the same beach on Tuesday, which also forced swimmers out of the water.
The Surf Life Saving Northern Region's duty manager Dan Short said people should check the Safeswim website and look out for any warning signs.
"We've put up that warning at local beaches just to say there was a large shark sighted and to exercise caution when swimming," Short told Newshub on Tuesday.
"If the shark is showing any dangerous activity like breaching out of the water or chasing schools of fish, we do normally close the patrolled area at that point in time until the shark is gone."
