The father and son who were found dead off the Wairarapa coast on Saturday have been named.
Darren Southon, 48, and Joshua Southon, 11, both of Masterton, had been out snorkelling on Friday, January 10 but failed to return.
Initial search efforts included helicopters, a surf life saving club and private vessels.
On Saturday night, the Police National Dive Squad located the bodies of two people.
"Police are working to support the family involved, who are distraught at the loss of their loved ones," Sergeant Tony Matheson from Wairarapa Search and Rescue said on Saturday.
"Police would like to thank all those involved in the search yesterday and today."
Police have extended its sincere condolences to their family and loved ones.
