A fire that broke out in a building at the University of Canterbury has been contained.
Photos showed smoke billowing from one of the campus' engineering labs.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman Lyn Crosson told Newshub that multiple crews attended the blaze.
"There was no evacuation necessary as the lab was empty," a post on the university's Facebook page said.
"The cause has yet to be determined."
