The Government will be launching its $45 million school lunch programme over the coming weeks to 30 schools across New Zealand.
When the policy is fully rolled out, 21,000 children will benefit from it.
But is the Government taking the best approach?
The AM Show spoke to Clarissa Mackay of Eat Right Be Bright.
Mackay has recently returned from the Obama Foundation Convening and the UN School Feeding Conference.
She is a strong advocate of the programme but says it must be well implemented if it is to achieve the desired results.
