While most of the country had an uneventful New Year's Eve as far as police are concerned, the same can't be said for one Hawke's Bay town.
Police in Waimarama, south of Hastings, were attacked when they attended reports of disorder at an address on Harper Rd.
A spokesperson told Newshub well over 100 people were involved.
"Objects were thrown and the window of a police vehicle was broken," a spokesperson said.
More than 12 units were dispatched and two youths were arrested at the scene. Police say investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected.
They're urging anyone with information to call them on 105 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
A court date is yet to be set.
