People heading home from holiday this weekend are warned to expect huge delays.
There will be traffic congestion across the country between 10:30am and 3:30pm Saturday as holidaymakers head home for work on Monday.
NZ Transport Agency system manager Mark Owen says people need to plan ahead.
"We don't want anyone doing any necessary overtaking when everyone's trying to get home to their destination," he told Newshub.
Owen said the usual hotspots for traffic will almost certainly be busy. Those hotspots include parts of Northland, including State Highway 1 at Whangarei.
He said hotspots in the South Island should expect delays too. Common congestion areas are SH1 between Ashburton and Christchurch, SH1 at Kaikoura and SH79 near Geraldine.
In Auckland, traffic could be heavy on SH1 between Puhoi and Wellsford, and SH1 at Takanini.
Drivers across the country are being urged to be patient and travel early or later in the day. Click here for the full list of congestion hotspots.
