New Zealand has led the world into 2020 with a bang.
Auckland's Sky Tower lit up at midnight with a spectacular fireworks display, paired with a laser light animation show.
More than 500kg of pyrotechnics was used, along with 3500 effects and 1.6 tonne of equipment. Launched from 235m above the ground, it's the highest new year fireworks display in the southern hemisphere
It was complemented by a five-minute light show on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
The display was watched around the world and broadcast my major media outlets, including the BBC.
Police applauded New Year's Eve revellers, with no major incidents reported.
In Auckland, there were 12 arrests with a range of charges including assault. But police say most were alcohol-related.
Overall they say it was a good night in the city.
