The body of missing British hiker Stephanie Simpson has been found.
Police located her body at 1:40pm on Friday after a week of searching.
Simpson, originally from the UK, disappeared in Mount Aspiring over the weekend.
The 32-year-old was reported as missing on Monday morning when she failed to show up at work.
Police say the discovery of her body is tragic and have extended their condolences to her family who are on their way to New Zealand.
"The search was extremely challenging at times, especially in
consideration of the terrain, and the work of all involved is to be commended," said Seargent Mark Kirkwood in a statement.
Simpson had been tramping regularly while working in Wanaka as a gardener.
Her death will be referred to the coroner.
