A man was apparently shot dead in Otara late on Friday night, and police have launched a homicide investigation.
They were called to the address on Bairds Rd at 11:45pm after getting reports of a firearm being discharged.
A critically injured man was found, but despite medical attention, died at the scene.
A second person was taken to Middlemore Hospital with moderate injuries.
"Locals should expect to see a strong police presence in the area today," said Det InspTofilau Va'aelua.
"I want to reassure the community that we are absolutely committed to finding those responsible for this and holding them to account."
