One person has been arrested after shots were fired in Ōtaki on the Kāpiti Coast this afternoon.
Witnesses on social media reported hearing gunshots and a number of police cars in the area.
A police spokesperson confirmed officers responded to the incident on Rangiuru Rd at 1pm on Tuesday and a person has been taken into custody.
They said there have been no injuries, and there isn't thought to be any risk to public safety.
However they are still looking for two witnesses and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
