One of New Zealand's most high-profile deportees has again been evicted from Australia after trying to claim asylum on Sunday night.
Shane Martin is a former bike gang member and the father of the biggest Aussie Rules star, Dustin Martin.
On Sunday night, Martin boarded a flight to Sydney hoping to claim asylum when he arrived.
But Australia's border force instead detained him and sent him back on a flight on Monday morning.
Newshub understands he was motivated by a ruling in Australia's High Court last week where it was found there was no right to deport people who can prove they are Aboriginal.
It saw Kiwi Brendan Thoms - who has Aboriginal heritage - released after 501 days in prison.
It's understood Martin claimed the same thing on arrival in Sydney, although he wouldn't answer media questions when asked if he does actually have any Aboriginal heritage.
But he'd now have to prove it from New Zealand - the last place he wants to be.
