A staff member at Auckland's Marist College for Girls has tested positive for COVID-19, the principal confirmed.
The school, which is in Mt Albert, will be closed for 72 hours for a thorough clean. Next door's Marist Primary School will also close as a precaution.
The Ministry of Education said in a letter it anticipated the school would reopen on Thursday.
Both the infected person and their household is in self-isolation.
Principal Raechelle Taulu says the staff member teaches students across years 7 to 13.
The school is currently trying to track and trace all close contacts, and Taulu says they're "supporting all staff and students" at this time.
It comes after a parent of a student at Auckland's Mt Roskill Grammar School tested positive for the virus.
They arrived in New Zealand from Europe on March 12 and attended the school's Tongan Fiafia event that evening.
Their child attended school until Thursday March 19 and does not have symptoms.
