Ministry of Health Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield provided another update on coronavirus at 1pm on Thursday.
The press conference was held at Ministry of Health headquarters in Wellington.
He revealed eight more people had tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours.
The update came as the Prime Minister warned New Zealanders on Thursday that they should prepare to work from home and stop all non-essential travel.
