Three people have been arrested after attempting to rob a Wellington property at gunpoint and leading police in a frantic chase across the city.
On Monday afternoon police rushed to Brooklyn after reports of an aggravated assault. When they arrived, the three alleged offenders took off in a car.
Video supplied to Newshub shows multiple police cars speeding after the vehicle as it tears through a Johnsonville intersection.
Police abandoned the pursuit when they saw the vehicle speeding the wrong way up the State Highway One Johnsonville off-ramp.
The offenders dumped the car on the off-ramp and sprinted from the scene. They were found by police shortly afterwards.
"Officers found two of the offenders nearby. The third offender was tracked by a police dog unit and was found in a property shortly after," Detective Senior Sergeant Kevan Verry told Newshub.
Two men aged 29 and 34 and a 29-year-old woman have all been arrested and charged with a range of offences including aggravated burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and failing to stop.
Police are asking the public for assistance, especially calling on anyone who saw the alleged offenders abandon the vehicle on the off-ramp.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police non-emergency line on 105.
