Fire and Emergency say there's still no indication how a large fire started on Auckland's Mt Wellington on Tuesday night.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at around 7:20pm.
Six trucks responded to the fire, which burned around 60 metres by 40 metres of scrub.
Video footage showed smoke from the blaze could be seen from kilometres away.
The fire was brought under control at around 8:15pm and put out at 9:45pm, Fire and Emergency said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the rural fire officer.
