More than half of the Jucy rental vehicles stolen from an Auckland car yard over ANZAC weekend have now been recovered by police.
The vehicles are Holden Captivas, Mazda 3s and Suzuki Swifts, all of which are plain and don't have clear branding, making them hard to identify.
But police say of the 112 vehicles that were stolen, 69 have now been found. The vehicles were recovered at various locations across Auckland, with the majority found at addresses in south Auckland.
Nineteen people have been arrested in connection to the scheme, according to Inspector Matt Srhoj, Counties Manukau West Area Commander.
Ten of these people will now be charged. Most of the charges relate to unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
Police enquiries are continuing, and Insp Srhoj warns further charges are likely.
"Police continue to investigate the thefts and we are determined to recover the outstanding stolen vehicles," he said in a statement.
"We encourage anyone with information about this matter to contact Police by phoning 105 and quoting file number 200426/2493. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
Some of the stolen cars have been found on Facebook Marketplace.
Forensics have been completed and CCTV footage is being sought to locate the remaining vehicles, police said.
The exact timings of the thefts are still unclear, but they are believed to have taken place during ANZAC weekend.
