Armed police attended an incident at a motel in Christchurch on Sunday morning.
Video sent to Newshub showed a number of officers approaching the Bush Inn Court Motel through its carpark.
Police said a person had been threatened with a firearm.
"Police responded accordingly and a man was taken into custody without incident," they told Newshub.
A spokesperson for the motel said the police were still there and were yet to talk to her about what happened.
