New Zealand's latest COVID-19 case is a preschool-aged child from Canterbury.
His was the only new case announced by the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Sunday and it is linked to the Rosewood Rest Home cluster as a household contact of an earlier case.
The MoH website says he is aged between one and four years old.
It brings the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1499. Of this, 1149 are confirmed and 350 are probable. A total of 1433 people have recovered which is 95.6 percent of all cases.
There were no new deaths announced on Sunday, meaning the total remains at 21.
Only five new cases were revealed this week by MoH, and there were four days where there were no new cases announced.
Two people remain in hospital - one is in Auckland Hospital and the other is in Middlemore Hospital.
A total of 228,148 tests have been completed, of which 4211 were conducted on Saturday.
