A man has been injured after armed police swarmed an Auckland Repco on Thursday morning.
A police spokesperson confirmed to Newshub that the man, who had a warrant for his arrest, was detained at the automotive retailer in Otahuhu shortly after 9am and has been taken into custody.
He has received treatment for a minor dog bite sustained in the tussle, the spokesperson confirmed.
An employee at the neighbouring NZ Cars on Great South Road told the New Zealand Herald he saw an altercation outside Repco's front doors, involving at least four Armed Offenders Squad officers carrying rifles.
"I heard a big bang - it must have been a flash bomb going off - and then there was a big puff of smoke," he told the outlet.
The circumstances surrounding the man's arrest remain unclear.
Newshub approached NZ Cars for comment, however none of the employees present at the time of the arrest were available.
