Investigations are underway into the cause of a fatal accident on the Napier-Taupō road.
Two people were killed and a third critically injured in the two-car crash Saturday afternoon on State Highway 5 near Te Pohue, northwest of Napier.
A helicopter ferried the injured to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
And a police helicopter had to assist in the search for a driver who ploughed off a road in Otago on Saturday night.
The vehicle went down a bank, but the person was able to report they were stuck in the vehicle, though they didn't know exactly where they were.
The chopper crew spotted the crash site on the Ranfurly side of Wedderburn and help was dispatched.
